Water systems in Mauritania
In the southern region of Mauritania, where villages typically consist of around 500 residents, the World Bank financed agricultural systems approximately 10-15 years ago. Over time, many of the diesel pumps provided have gradually deteriorated, and the soaring cost of diesel fuel has made it challenging to maintain the ones that still function.
Ecobat of Mauritania has stepped in to introduce solar-powered pumps in select locations, which offer a sustainable and cost-effective solution. Over the next six months, Cody and Ecobat will collaborate to expand the deployment of solar pumps in the most efficient manner possible.
Artisan Electrics of Cambridge has contributed 48kw of solar panels to support this project. This initiative represents an exemplary approach to carbon reduction by repurposing redundant panels, reducing reliance on diesel, and ultimately improving the quality of life for local communities.
